Upcoming Concerts
The winter concert will be held at the Scarritt-Bennett Wightman Chapel on Tuesday evening, December 9, 2008 at 7:30 P.M.. The concert will feature music for the holiday season, including Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Motets for the Season of Christmas by Francis Poulenc, as well as works by pre-Renaissance composers Guillaume Dufay and Tomas Luis Da Victoria. Past performances have included works by Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Rossini, Verdi and Bernstein. Admission is free.

Wallace Rasmussen
Chorus members sing for Wallace.

This concert will be held to honor the memory of Wallace Rasmussen, the original benefactor of the Music City Community Chorus. Retired businessman and philanthropist Wallace Rasmussen died Sunday September 21, 2008 after an extended illness. Mr. Rasmussen, 94, was the former chairman and CEO of Beatrice Foods Co., a major American food processing company.
MC3 founder and director Renee Grant-Williams has this to say, ”Without Wallace Rasmussen there would be no Music City Community Chorus today. As we have come to know him through the last three years, it has become clear that Wallace was a giant of a man. One who opened his mind and heart, as well as his wallet, to the endeavors that interested him. He has created a legacy of generosity that few can rival.
Wallace enjoyed our trips to his home to perform for him. And it pleased him that the chorus members took time to sing for him, you could see that it lifted his spirits. Wallace, you will be greatly missed.”
