EXTENDS AUDITIONS
AUGUST 31, 2010 ( NASHVILLE) – The Music City Community Chorus, founded in 2004 by renowned voice coach Renee Grant-Williams, has extended auditions through September at Grant-Williams’ studio in downtown Nashville.
The all-volunteer chorus, fully funded by philanthropic donations from Nashville individuals and businesses, performs two concerts each year, often donating proceeds from its events to raise funds and awareness for charities that have included The Red Cross Haiti Disaster Relief, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and the Veterans of WWII Memorial.
The chorus’ first concert of the 2010-2011 season will be held December 7th to highlight the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia’s 150 year celebration. MC3 will perform the exquisite Solemn Vespers by Rachmaninoff.
Rehearsals begin Monday, September 13 th. Chorus members rehearse Monday evenings from September through December and again from March through June. To audition (615) 244-3280 or go to www.MusicCityCommunityChorus.org.

MISSION STATEMENT
WHAT IS MC3?
- MC to the third power stands for the Music City Community Chorus, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, broad-based volunteer performing chorus formed in Nashville, Tennessee under the direction of Renee Grant-Williams, founder and former conductor of the San Francisco Community Chorus. The overall goal is to create an organization that builds a bridge between disparate Nashville music communities and styles.
WHO CAN JOIN?
- MC3 welcomes not only those who have had prior experience of performing with choral ensembles—high school, college, church, and community—but the musically-inclined and musically-disenfranchised as well. There are many fine musicians and singers in Nashville who may never have had an opportunity to experience music from a classical perspective. On the other hand, the diverse make-up of this group brings the energy of skills born of popular music to the realm of the classical music lover.
- Auditions are structured to recruit not only those who are already skilled at reading music, but those who are willing and able to acquire music skills as they learn.
SCHEDULE?
- Two rehearsal seasons, culminating with at least one public performance per season. September – January. February – June.
- Rehearsals are 7:00 to 9:30 Monday evenings.
- Biweekly sectional rehearsals for those who need extra help are arranged by the section leader.

REPERTOIRE?
- Repertoire is primarily, but not limited to, classical choral works in the tradition of the great composers.
SOLOISTS AND INSTRUMENTALISTS?
- Whenever possible and appropriate, solo assignments will be extended to members of Nashville’s non-classical community.
- As dictated by the programming and budget, all performances will be accompanied by the appropriate professional instrumentalists.
WHAT OTHER SUCH OPPORTUNITIES EXIST?
- The Nashville Symphony Chorus, under the auspices of the Nashville Symphony, is an excellent chorus with professional standards. Their audition procedures are stringent and their performances are primarily in conjunction with the Symphony.
- There are fine college and high school vocal ensembles which fulfill the needs of their institutions’ programs.
- Nashville is blessed with an abundance of excellent church choirs that accompany their respective worship services.
- MC3 reaches out to all these groups, offering their members an additional community choral experience.
WHY HAVE ANOTHER CHORUS?
- The Music City Community Chorus expands the participation opportunity to include a broader demographic group.
- MC3 will expose the community to performances of great choral works not currently available through other organizations.
